Our Commitment to Serve the Children

He that hath a bountiful eye will be blessed.
Guided by our Three Pillars, TBEF and our NGO partners strive to ensure the children's basic needs are met for a chance at improving their quality of life.
Established in 2019, TBEF is also known as Yayasan Jendela Kasih. The foundation is symbolised as a window to the heart and soul of the people; encompassing an eye to meet real needs and two hands to receive and give with a bountiful heart.
TBEF is here because of the many people that come together with one goal, that is to make a difference in the community we live in, and together we can.

COVID-19 Outreach Programmes

Recognising the need for quick action in the unforeseen direness caused by COVID-19, The Bountiful Eye Foundation has responded with immediate measures to address food scarcity and poor healthcare prevalent in the underserved communities, which are exacerbated by the pandemic and the movement control orders (MCOs).

As part of the response, our combination of in-kind and monetary efforts have supported medical institutions and have aided 1,674 households in need with the provision of essential food and hygiene products through our partners.

Solidarity with Malaysian Frontliners

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world in March 2020, medical staff and medical equipment plunged into a dire shortage. TBEF responded by facilitating a donation drive for one of LINACO’s subsidiaries, TapeMe™, to contribute a total of 1,920 rolls of clear adhesive tapes to the following medical institutions throughout Malaysia to produce do-it-yourself (DIY) face shields:
  • Farmasi Pesakit Luar, Kluang, Johor
  • Bulan Sabit Merah, Kelantan
  • Malaysia Red Crescent National Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur
  • Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Kuantan
While battling the first wave of the virus in March 2020 and before any clear COVID-19 standard operating procedures were blueprinted, Malaysian frontliners were innovative in creating DIY face shields as protective gears for themselves. It was made up of a foam tube and a clear visor with tapes to put the pieces together.

Batu Pahat Communities

Collaborating with our partners in Batu Pahat, TBEF has extended our hands to the underprivileged communities in Kampung Kelicap, Kampung Parit Bugis, and Kampung Tanjung Labuh with 232 essential food packages while another 50 were donated to families under Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kasih Murni Batu Pahat, as recommended by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat. The food packages were all hand-packed with care by our colleagues in Batu Pahat.

Dignity for Children Foundation

The refugee community is one of the hardest hits in Malaysia. Thankfully, partnering with Dignity for Children Foundation has enabled us to reach out to them and also those with zero income during the first movement control order with RM50,000 monetary donation, 300 essential food packs that include fresh food, and in-kind donations via MBG Donation Drive. We hope these will aid them in their survival during these difficult times.

House of Hope

TBEF has donated to House of Hope via RM50,000 in cash donation and various in-kind contributions to help families registered under the NGO. These include 50 cartons of Morris Cream Cracker to be distributed among 500 households. House of Hope coordinated and together we delivered them.

MyKasih Foundation

Through MyKasih food aid Programme, TBEF has donated essential food packages to help the marginalised communities in Batu Arang, Selangor; Sitiawan, Perak; Ulu Tiram and Batu Pahat, Johor.

The MyKasih food aid programme runs on a proprietary chip technology of the MyKad, which enables charity funds to be channelled in a secure, targeted and transparent manner, directly to rightful recipients via their MyKad accounts. Besides preventing abuse of donor funds, this exercise restores dignity to the underprivileged by letting them choose the food items as and when they need them.

Orang Asli Communities

Together with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) and Pejabat Daerah Hulu Perak, TBEF has delivered 120 essential food packs to four Orang Asli communities in Gerik, Perak. They are Kampung Cunex, Kampung Leyef, Kampung Ong Jangking, and Kampung Ong Jelmol. These communities are also under the network of Pusat Didikan Komuniti (PDK) Orang Asli - the community learning centres supporting early childhood education of the Orang Asli.

Soup Kitchens

TBEF has supported Kembara Kitchen and The Lost Food Project (TLFP) in their effort to prepare meals and deliver food aids to poverty-stricken communities. We are thankful our donations made it in time for these operations to be carried out during the movement control order. Kembara Kitchen is a small catering business cum social enterprise while TLFP is a non-profit group donating surplus food to the needy. Both organisations have central kitchens for their operations.

Yayasan Generasi Gemilang

The underserved communities have been struggling most with putting simple meals on the table during this pandemic. TBEF has worked with Yayasan Generasi Gemilang to support the underserved communities in PPR Seri Pantai and PPR Putra Damai Lembah Subang by contributing RM10,000 in monetary assistance. This initiative was done by purchasing essentials items through MyKasih Foundation cashless payment system.

TESTIMONIALS

Dignity for Children

Dignity is a non-governmental organisation that provides holistic care and education for urban poor children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It currently serves over 1,700 children and youth aged 1-18 years.

TBEF partners with Dignity to support 36 children monthly under the latter’s “Empower-A-Child” programme. It enables children in receiving continuous education, nutritious meals, basic health and hygiene, and quality holistic care to develop academically and socially to break out from the cycle of poverty.

Help Community Learning Ctr.

Help Community Learning Centre serves refugee children’s need for education, focusing on preparing them for higher education when they are successfully resettled. The centre is one of the first TBEF’s beneficiaries to receive financial support for their operational costs. Today, this partnership serves 123 refugee children in the centre, with 120 and 3 of Myanmar and Pakistan nationalities, respectively.

Kasih Murni

Kasih Murni is a community centre that primarily provides tuition and daycare services for children from underprivileged families in Batu Pahat. Other services include monthly counselling sessions and a humble food bank for families in need.

TBEF supports all 21 children and four teachers’ allowances that are currently in the centre.

House of Hope

Founded in 2006 by an ordinary housewife, House of Hope is a charity that journeys with families in Penang affected by urban poverty. They provide food aid and community support, distribute financial protection, and run educational programmes.

TBEF works closely with House of Hope to currently support 100 families and 50 children in need. We hope this partnership will be able to transform the community and break the cycle of poverty and crime as we believe that without education and community support, this vicious cycle would continue into the next generations.

Generasi Gemilang

Yayasan Generasi Gemilang (GG) is a local non-profit organisation aimed to improve the lives of vulnerable communities by providing education and basic daily needs. Since 2020, TBEF has been supporting GG via their KidzREAD and Super Sarapan Programmes, targeting the pillars of education and food aid, respectively. This partnership currently serves 200 children in need.

KidzREAD is a programme to instil the joy of learning and promote English literacy among primary students and has taught more than 300 children since 2013; whereas Super Sarapan is a programme to provide daily breakfasts to underprivileged children in schools.

Bethesda House

Bethesda House provides shelter for children who are seeking refuge from their troubled families. The centre is carefully managed by Sister Rosline in Rawang, together with her team of volunteers. With the youngest at the age of four and the oldest at 16, there are a total of 18 children at the centre.

Since 2017, TBEF has continuously supported the children’s monthly tuition and daily transportation fees to and fro school. Books and laptops donations were also provided in yesteryears. TBEF and Bethesda hope with this partnership, we could provide a safe and homey environment for the children to study and relax.

MyKasih Foundation

MyKasih Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a mission to enable underprivileged families to achieve more independence and give their children a chance to break out of the poverty cycle.

Since early 2020, TBEF has been collaborating with MyKasih to support children from the Orang Asli (OA) communities and public primary schools.

In 2021, a total of 662 students benefitted from this partnership.
  • 358 students from nine Orang Asli Community Learning Centres (Pusat Didikan Komuniti Orang Asli (PDK))
  • 304 students from five public primary schools (Sekolah Kebangsaan)

PDK envisions bridging the gap between mainstream education and the traditional knowledge and heritage of the people. MyKasih and TBEF believe that its 5M Concept is necessary for OA children to gain literacy and onto pursuing higher education. The five Ms are membaca, mengeja, menulis, mengira, and menaakul; respectively, reading, spelling, writing, counting, and critical thinking.
